UNEP DTIE's OzonAction Branch recognises the importance of interlinkages between human health, environmental protection as well as economic & social development. Therefore, we actively encourage synergetic cooperation with other UN bodies including Convention Secretariats as well as Governments, research institutes, NGOs and industry.
In line with several decisions of the Meeting of the Parties of the Montreal Protocol and the Conference of the Parties of the Kyoto Protocol (see Annex I), the SolarChill concept was initially perceived through UNEP's cooperation with World Health Organization and Greenpeace International. It has now reached the field-testing phase through a close cooperation between the SolarChill partners and supporting industries. The project is a living example of an inter-agency and multi-stakeholder cooperation on health, environment and development-related matters.
UNEP DTIE's OzonAction Branch is operating in the field of ozone layer protection and climate change including any interlinked issues. Our contribution to the SolarChill project is technology assessment, policy advice, and the outreach of the SolarChill technology though our networks of country representatives, technical experts and industry partners as well as our existing clearinghouse infrastructures and publications.
